Omoku Power plant is a 150MW generating station which consists of
six open cycle gas turbines, each with an installed generating
capacity of 25 MW. The gas turbines are GE Nuovo Pignone model MS
5001 PA. The generating station came online in December 2006 with
four turbine units at the start, while the other two came up a year
later. The power generated is transmitted directly to the control
center in Porthacourt (Ogindipa) via 132 KVA feeder lines. In
addition, the power station directly exports power to neighboring
communities of Okposi, Ndoni and Kirigene, among others.
Presently, operation and
maintenance of Omoku Power Plant is being carried out by NG Power
Limited.
