Sahara Power Resource Ltd.

Established in 2001 to supply gas oil to the emergency power project for the Nigerian Electric Authority (NEPA), the company’s core business lies in the planning and provisioning of Independent Power Plants (IPP).

The company partnered with a major Chilean company to provide solutions to power sector reform initiatives of the Nigerian Government.

Through an SPV, the company commenced Phase I development of a 1250 Megawatts gas powered IPP in 2005 in Nigeria. This phase on completion will generate 250 Megawatts through 3 open cycle GE gas turbine units. Subsequent phases will bring the total output of the facility to 1250 Megawatts.

Sahara Power is also involved in regional reforms in West Africa, capitalizing on the West African Gas Pipeline to install IPP’s in Ghana and Benin Republic.
