Q: Tell us about yourself (Name, background, interests and how long you have been with Sahara)

My name is Mayowa Iyiola, I am from Oyo State. I have been with Sahara Group for 2years 6 months, currently with the downstream subsidiary of the business, Asharami Synergy Limited as a Finance Officer. I enjoy spending time with my loved ones and giving back to the community.

Q: What is your motivation for volunteering?

I believe we all have a part to play in making the world a better place. So volunteering for a great social cause gives me joy and a profound sense of accomplishment as it allows me perform my civic duty and affords me the opportunity to give back to my community.

Q: Describe your volunteering experience with the Sahara Foundation?

My experience has been remarkable as I am an advocate of the Sahara Green life initiative, which aims to tackle climate change issue whilst providing economic empowerment to the host community.

Q: What contribution or achievement are you most proud?

I am happy about my contribution to the green life initiative where I have supported with the Ijora Recycle hub project and it is inspiring for me to see the beneficiaries of the scheme get cash and health insurance enrolment in exchange for recyclables.

Q: What other organizations or causes do you support or volunteer for?

I am also a volunteer with Lagos Food bank initiative. It is an NGO here in Lagos with the mission to fight hunger, reduce food waste and solving the problem of malnutrition.

Q: Do you know about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? If yes, what do you think of them?

Yes, the SDGs are goals designed by the United Nations to ensure a sustainable environment, eradication of hunger and poverty which are focus on poor nations. Achieving these goals will make the world a better place.

Q: What do you think about Sahara Foundations new focus areas (Access to Clean Energy and Promoting Sustainable Environment)?

Sahara Foundation’s new focus areas aligns with SDG 7, which it is a terrific opportunity for the foundation to promote clean and sustainable energy.
