Amidst worry over unending environmental pollution and its devastating effect, conversion of waste to energy and ornamentals has been demonstrated as one way of achieving cleaner energy and sustainability.

Sahara Group, a leading international energy and infrastructure conglomerate, walked the talk Monday, in Lagos , after presenting beautiful plaques made of waste materials to experts who have contributed in no small measure to various sustainability initiatives.

At the maiden edition of Asharami Square, an initiative of the Sahara Group, themed ‘Carbon Footprints and the African Narratives’, during which climatic changes and its effects especially in Africa were fully discussed, the Group noted the use of waste products like used plastics to produce the plaques is just one of the ways of ensuring cleaner environment.

Head Corporate Communications, Sahara Group, Bethel Obioma, who presented the plaques on behalf of the Group noted that everyone has a contribution to make in achieving cleaner environment.

“These plaques have been made from waste products, as a proof that we all have a role to play in the sustainability efforts”

One of the speakers and recipients of the appreciation plaque, Dr Eugine .O. Itua, who doubles as CEO, Natural Eco Capital, called for the implementation of the Climatic Change Act of 2021 to further help in the holistic approach to cleaner environment and sustainability project.

The maiden Asharami Square, which the Group said will now hold annually.  is not only aimed at keeping the sustainability question on the front burner, but also ensure that  the media, energy professionals and other stakeholders are on the same page in the quest for a better and more friendly environment.
