Our attention has been drawn to false and misleading advertorials in This Day Newspapers of August 6, 2025, and accompanying reports sourced from same, alleging the appointment of ‘Kunle Ogunba Esq. SAN as Receiver/Manager by FBNQuest Trustees Limited acting for a syndicate of Lenders) over the entire undertakings, assets, etc, of the following Sahara Power Group Limited affiliates: KEPCO Energy Resource Nigeria Limited, Ng-Power-HPS Limited, and New Electricity Distribution Company Limited (“the Power Entities”).

We would like to state for the record that the said publications are not only a gross misrepresentation of facts, but a rehash of previous reports aimed at damaging our goodwill and reputation, which has made the Sahara Brand a foremost energy conglomerate for almost three decades.
We affirm unequivocally that the Power Entities, as well as the operating companies (Egbin Power Plc, Ikeja Electric Plc, and First Independent Power Co. Limited), are neither in Receivership nor being managed by any external party whatsoever.
We would like to state categorically, and for the record, that Justice Akintayo Aluko of the Federal High Court in Lagos, in Rulings delivered in Suit Nos. FHC/L/CS/1242, FHC/L/CS/1244, and FHC/L/CS/1245 on 5th August 2025 restrained the Lenders and their purported Receiver/Manager from:
- Calling or accelerating the facility granted by the Lenders to the Power Entities which has not matured or are in default
- Interfering and/or continuing to interfere, or taking steps to interfere with the assets, businesses, and undertakings of the Power Entities in any manner whatsoever; or taking any adverse steps under any guise, whether by way of suspension of the business and operational accounts of the Power Entities and its shareholders domiciled with the Defendants or in any manner whatsoever.
- Enforcing or taking any steps to enforce any share security granted over the assets of the Power Entities or their sponsors based on the disputed debt claimed by the Lenders, which the Power Entities vehemently dispute.
- Unilaterally enforcing or taking any steps to enforce or take any steps to enforce of take any action under any finance document in connection with the disputed debt.
In addition, the Power Entities have since published rejoinders and duly certified enrolled judgements which portray the unassailable facts of the matter.

We urge the public and our stakeholders to ignore the false advertorials and syndicated press releases in their entirety. The matters in dispute amongst the Parties are currently the subject of litigation in various suits where the Lenders have submitted to the jurisdiction of the Courts.
