Bringing benevolence to life across the globe
Bringing benevolence to life across the globe
At the heart of Sahara’s business objectives, lies an unwavering commitment to promoting good corporate citizenship across the globe.
This is achieved through Sahara Foundation – the vehicle for the Group’s Personal and Corporate Social Responsibility (PCSR initiatives.
With a vision to promote activities targeting sustained (impact driven) societal wellbeing and touching lives through transformative partnerships, Sahara Foundation recently realigned its focus areas to 2 key pillars for all interventions going forward.
This was borne out of the necessity for the Foundation to take ownership of a particular space and align with Group’s vision.
Focus Areas
Our activities focus on initiatives that increase access to energy and promote sustainable environments, all geared towards the attainment of the SDGs in a manner that results in measurable social impact.
This will be achieved through the Extrapreneurship model. The concept involves creating value through leveraging internal and external strengths to drive cross-sectoral collaboration by connecting the right people and organizations towards providing sustainable solutions to global social problems. The core of the extrapreneurship framework is ‘to create a platform that finds, creates and connects young extrapreneurs in emerging markets’.

Promoting Sustainable Environments
Our environment focus is targeted at promoting sustainable practices for the preservation of the environment. Besides being a topical subject in global discourse, as it will be for decades to come, the environment is an important capital (asset) for business operations.

UJANA HUB
“Ujana”, meaning “youth” in Swahili, is an initiative of the Sahara Foundation. The Ujana Hub is a technology driven convergence point for the youth to inspire innovation specifically in the areas of clean energy and sustainable environments. The hub aims to bring together various committed stakeholders through a platform that will promote cross- sectoral collaboration thereby creating and preserving wealth.
How we are making a difference
LASTEST NEWS
Following the spread of the pandemic, we initiated the #SavingaMillionLives campaign in a bid to cushion the impact of the virus in collaboration with other partners in government and private sector.
The centre consists of a 300-bed COVID-19 testing, isolation and treatment centre. The facility was also equipped with ventilators, x-ray and dialysis machines as well as a 54gene testing lab with a scalable 200 – 1000 tests per day.
We also provided food, face masks, hand sanitizers, oxygen and other relief materials to over one million beneficiaries in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and Tanzania.
